APEC CBPR Certification
The APEC CBPR System is a data privacy certification framework developed by APEC to facilitate secure cross-border data flows among member economies while protecting personal information. Organizations are certified by accredited Accountability Agents based on their compliance with APEC privacy principles.
The APEC CBPR certification is based on the APEC Privacy Framework, which features nine privacy principles: Accountability, Harm Prevention, Notice, Choice, Collection Limitation, Use of Personal Information, Integrity of Personal Information, Security Safeguards, and Access and Correction. The framework was endorsed by 21 APEC economies to promote accountable and responsible transfers of personal information between the APEC economies.
Global CBPR Certification
The Global CBPR System is an international data privacy certification framework that enables secure and trusted cross-border data flows. Certified organizations are judged by recognized Accountability Agents to have met high privacy standards that ensure strong data protection and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
In April 2023, the Global CBPR Forum ("Forum") established the Global CBPR Framework which is based on the APEC Privacy Framework and consistent with the core principles of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Trans-Border Flows of Personal Data.
